Aichingers work is filled up with concentration – for one, it is the one used for painting the high-grade figures as accurate as possible and on the other hand the mental tension the figures themselves sense in a moment of pause. This concentration doesn’t recognize its object, it is outside the frame with no reference, out in the open. Aichinger this way manages a balance between substance and abstraction and balances the readability of the pictures between the possible and impossible.
